PASTURE-RAISED EGGS

ABOUT OUR EGGS

The Alderwood Farms eggs are sourced and produced entirely from Southwestern Ontario. Family-run businesses are the core of all Alderwood Farms products, but are most noted in our egg line.  Most of the flocks are considered “backyard” flocks, meaning each farmer raises less than 500 birds at a time.  This allows for a few things – a high level of awareness of animal husbandry, easy pasture access for the free-range birds, and a dark yellow yolk in each egg. Feel good about feeding your family Alderwood Farms eggs – they are free range, nutrient dense and delicious.

WHY OUR EGGS?

Free Range

All of the birds under the Alderwood Farms brand are free range, which means there are no cages!  They are free to roam where they please, and are raised under natural conditions.

Pasture-Raised

Our chickens are free-range, with access to pasture.  When the weather doesn’t allow for regular pasture and grazing, they are fed diets rich in hay and alfalfa.

Raised without Antibiotics

The chickens that lay the Alderwood Farms eggs are raised without the use of antibiotics.

Small Flock

The chickens that lay the Alderwood Farms eggs are primarily from small flocks (less than 500 birds), which are raised with the animals’ comfort and care in mind by farmers who take great pride in animal husbandry standards.

Proudly Canadian

The mandate of Alderwood Farms is to support the Canadian agri-food industry.  All of the products under the Alderwood Farms label are manufactured in Canada, in conjunction with small, family-run operations.  We believe that food entrepreneurship is one of the backbones of the Canadian economy.

Vibrant Yolks

The yolk of an Alderwood Farms egg will be dark yellow to dark orange in colour.  That’s because as free-range hens, our chickens have access to a wide variety of proteins and legumes, creating an overall well balanced and nutritious diet. Highly nutritious and delicious!
